Innovative Drought Preparedness Working Bee – Yeppoon

An event coordinated by High Valley Dawn Permaculture Farm Yeppoon, supported by Fitzroy Basin Association through funding by the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program.

In this time of ongoing drought, we need to become more resilient and more innovative.

With many farmers and properties facing a water shortage, we are exploring a new technique with our natural desalination plant.

Underground water which is too salty for the garden will be pumped up hill via solar power and then passed down through a series of swales containing limestone, Vetiver grass and salt-resistant trees.

The morning will include morning tea for all volunteers as well as a tour of the farm at the end to get a rundown of some other sustainable techniques we are using.

WHEN: Saturday, 30 November
