Justin Cagney is an Executive Director with the Department of Environment and Heritage Protection and works in the Environmental Services and Regulation Division.
Responsible for coal mining approvals under Queensland’s Environmental Protection Act 1994, Justin is also responsible for compliance and enforcement activities associated with environmentally relevant activities operating from Bowen in the north to Maryborough in the south, and extending inland to the central west. This area includes the Fitzroy River Basin, Central Queensland coalfields and Galilee Basin. Justin leads a team of 91 staff located across offices in Mackay, Rockhampton, Emerald, Gladstone and Maryborough. Justin has a Bachelor of Science in Aquatic Resource Management and commenced employment with the Queensland Government in 2006. Justin was appointed to the FBA Board in 2017.
