Flood recovery help

Personal and family support

1. Grants to families and individuals from Queensland Government's Department of Community Services.

· Personal Hardship Assistance - available to help meet the added cost of buying food, clothing medicines or temporary accommodation

· Essential household Contents Grant – available to eligible families and individuals to help with the replacement or repair of uninsured, essential household items

· Structural Assistance Grant - available to help repair owner-operated, uninsured residences damaged by flooding

Community Recovery and Coordination Centres have also been established to provide a broad range of support and assistance for people affected by the disaster at:

2. Emergency payments from Centrelink are available to eligible people affected by the flood; this website has information and claim forms:

Business support

1. Flood assistance grants up to $25,000 are available from QRAA for repairing/replacing infrastructure such as fencing and machinery etc, cleaning, and other recovery expenditure: http://www.qraa.qld.gov.au/index.php?option=com_qraa&view=detail&id=200&Itemid=89

(To be eligible, the claimant must be in a local government area declared as a disaster area for this flood.)

2. Assistance (loans and freight subsidies) is available to those outside designated disaster regions, who have suffered flood or storm damage by requesting an Individual Disaster Stricken Property (IDSP) certificate from your local state government office by phoning 132 523 or via this website http://www.dpi.qld.gov.au/4789_4223.htm
