Agricultural production has the greatest footprint of any land use
in Central Queensland with nearly 90% of the land under
agricultural production. Grazing is the dominant agricultural
land use. The
Biodiversity and
Grazing Project has a broad objective to contribute to an understanding of grazing
land management practices in Central Queensland that lead to
beneficial outcomes for both ecosystem health and productive land
use.
Mining and other extractive industries such as quarries use about
56 000 hectares in Central Queensland. Mining is a very
important economic contributor to the Central Queensland
region. The

and Biodiversity Project aims to ensure the future survival of threatened species and
communities that live in central Queensland's coal mining areas..
