The focus of this RIS investment remains on providing supportive
actions to achieve a reliable and secure water supply for primary
production, industrial development, and urban usage while allowing
sufficient environmental flow for the region’s ecosystems.
This program looks to add value to the government’s
responsibilities with regard to sustainable use of water by
addressing elements outside the scope of legislation including:
- Improved communication and understanding of environmental flow and
environmental flow objectives;
- Integration of monitoring, increased water use efficiency, and
addressing conflict and pressures arising from limited water;
- Strengthening partnerships between community, industry and
government in managing water.
