Fitzroy Basin Association Grazing Land Management technical support
On Property Support
The
Sustainable Landscapes
program offers opportunities to get involved with
awareness-raising activities and on-ground projects across the
region.
Property Planning
Property management planning increases understanding of sustainable
production and land capability, and incorporates best management
practices, considering:
- Pasture condition and stock management.
- Cropping practices.
- Water use efficiency.
- Integrated pest management.
- Fire management.
- Waterway and riparian management (creeks, rivers, wetlands), and
off-stream watering systems.
- Remnant vegetation, corridors and biodiversity.
- Salinity management.
Property Mapping
Mapping and imagery are becoming integral tools in natural resource
and property management throughout Australia. FBA supports
the CQ community by offering mapping products and services.
Local Support
Sub-Regional Field Officers
Sub-regional groups work with landholders in Neighbourhood
Catchment and property management planning, providing training and
technical and financial support.
A significant component of the work done in the
Sustainable Landscapes
program is sub-contracted to sub-regional groups, Landcare
and other community groups, consultants, Queensland Government
agencies and local government.
Financial and technical support is currently aimed at projects in
priority
Neighbourhood Catchments. Contact your local
sub-regional group
to find out if your catchment falls into this catchment.
Sub-regions offer field officer support through:
- Property visits.
- Assistance with funding applications.
- Workshops catering for local needs.
- Organisation of meetings to cater for local NRM issues.
- Organisation of locally relevant field days.
