FBA works in partnership with subregional groups and landholders to
implement on-ground actions. These actions protect riparian
and wetland areas and deliver long term water quality,
biodiversity and productivity outcomes.
The Fitzroy Basin Association holds over 200 neighbourhood
catchments. Fifty of these catchments have been prioritised for
focused efforts from 2004 to 2008. These neighbourhood catchments
were prioritised using a multi-criteria analysis drawing
upon the most up-to-date information available at the
time on regional NRM issues including water quality,
salinity, biodiversity and weeds.
FBA encourages the acceleration of management action
adoption through its Neighbourhood Catchment Incentives
Scheme. Through this incentives scheme, landholders may be entitled
to up to 50% of the cost of capital infrastructure associated
with the protection of riparian and wetland environments.
Since 2002 over 300 projects have been undertaken throughout the
region. Please follow the links below to just a few case studies of
riparian and wetland projects.

Video Footage
Ingelara
is a property situated less than 20km from Carnarvon National
Park. The Ogg family run around 1500 head of cattle on
18000 acres in a good year. They have completed a series of
projects in the last few years to protect Oakey and Carnarvon
Creeks. Infrastructure developments include off-stream watering
systems along with riparian and landtype fencing.
The results speak for themselves with improved grass cover in
riparian areas, vegetation regeneration and stock watering away
from sensitive zones. All this with no loss in
productivity. Check out the video footage for more information
